Offline is the new luxury.

A good book, magazine or coffee table book. Matched with a coffee, or a Negroni Svegliato, if one feels the need. Plus a bit of time. For me, absolute luxury.

I recently stumbled across Shreeji’s Newsagents in Marylebone, of course through social media, and decided it would be worth a visit. The term ‘newsagent’ has been lost over recent decades due to the rise of convenience shops (or stores), which sell everything, apart from printed media.

Due to Shreeji’s online presence, on the day I visited, it had been taken over for a perfume launch, aptly named Mocha Magic, so I didn’t get the chance to fully experience the booked and magazines. I’ll have to head back.

Recently, Bentley did the same thing and created the Bentley Newsagents for a week, taking over Automat in Mayfair for the launch of the renamed customer magazine. Pretty cool I reckon.

Let hope we see more of these types of newagents, that can give us the fleeting moments of being offline in a fast paced world.
